Overview
“The Marangu or main route is by far the most popular way up Kilimanjaro. It usually takes 5 days for the round trip.
The schedule, trails, and accommodations are all designed to allow the visitor time to acclimatize. An extra day at Horombo, Mawenzi or Kibo Huts is recommended to allow even more time to get used to the attitude.
6 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing – Marangu Route is a package through a moderate slope, making it less difficult to climb and it is the most popular way and frequently used by trekkers to Mountain Kilimanjaro.
It is the only route with an efficient emergency evacuation service because of its nature. Accommodations are in huts simple permanent structures for sleeping dormitories and simple dining rooms.
Day 1 Arusha/ Moshi – Marangu – Mandara (First Stop)
After breakfast we will drive from Arusha or Moshi Hotel to Marangu gate, passing the glamorous landscape and sightseeing, glorious views of Mount Meru the Peak of Kilimanjaro can be seen. Via the old town of Moshi, and arriving at Marangu Gate, here at the gate we will spend about two hours for registration, payments of fees, and final parking.
Start climbing through a deep jangle with some waterfalls around then Dinner and Overnight at Mandara hut (9,000ft
Day 2 : Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut. (Second Stop)
The Breakfast will be served in a simple wooden dining room Mandara followed by the second day to ascend through the dense semi-tropical to alpine meadow, and grassland and moorland to destination at Horombo hut (12,000ft). Both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks can be viewed on an open day ( if not cloudy). Dinner and overnight at Horombo hut
Day 3 Acclimatizing day
The day is spent making an excursion towards the base of the seldom visited Mawenzi peak, which affords excellent views of Kibo and our route up to the crater rim at Gillman’s Point. Mawenzi is an older volcano than Kibo and so has eroded further into a very jagged ridge with dramatic pinnacles.
The landscape feels more alpine and there is a greater sense of peacefulness than in other locations on this route. We spend a second night at Horombo Hut to further improve our acclimatization. 4-5 hours walking.
Day 4: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut
Yes, today is a high breath test. – After Breakfast, we proceed with our journey further ascending to Kibo hut (15,000ft). The environment now changes as you go further to the top, the landscape becomes stony and eroded slightly windy. Spectacular mountain vegetation like giant cacti, groundswell, and lobelia can be observed as we ascend. Dinner and an overnight stay at Kibo Hut.
Day 5: Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak
As the Scriptures from someplace in the holy book “Bible” Says whoever wins will be crowned… As to the culture of many people who made it to the summit, a woke up at midnight, after a snack, we begin to ascend the summit through Gilman’s Point (18,640ft).
It is about 5-6 hours and 1-2 hours from Kibo hut to Gilman’s Point and from Gilman’s Point to Uhuru Peak (19,340ft) respectively. Thus reaching the peak in the early morning of the fifth day and start descending to Kibo Huts then after a short break at Kibo Hut, we proceed to dinner and an overnight Horombo hut
Day 6: Horombo hut to Marangu gate – Hotel in Moshi or Arusha
We will enjoy a hot Breakfast this morning while reminding ourselves about the day, Followed by descending from Horombo hut to Marangu gate. The waiting car will take you to our hotel in Moshi or Arusha,
